My first knife with the new forge. (Summer 2003)
This spike started out as just a quick test to see how hot the forge would get. When I first fired it I threw in a 1/2 square bar that got hot enough to twist 18" in about 10 minutes. So, I figured what the heck and threw in this spike I grabbed out of the junk pile just to see how long it would take. 10 minutes had it hot enough to twist. As you can see, I didn't try for an even twist. I was just seeing if it would work. After I had it done I decided to go ahead and pound if out a little. So, here is my first knife from the propane forge. I spent an hour or so grinding and filing on it and have it looking pretty good now. I'll take a couple of picks soon and post them up.
